Run a weekly competitive review
A simple weekly loop for reviewing what Spiderlook’s daily scans found.
What is the weekly loop?
- Skim Activity since last week.
- Clear open Signals on Home.
- Read the weekly report.
- Accept battlecard suggestions for rivals that moved.
- Refresh only the rival you must brief today if the last daily scan is too old.
Why does weekly still work with daily scans?
Daily scans keep evidence fresh. The weekly review packages conclusions for stakeholders. Separating those rhythms avoids Refresh thrash and keeps usage for Ask Spidey when you need it.
Agencies often run this loop once per client project. Brands run it once on the primary landscape before the Monday stakeholder sync.
What if the weekly report is missing?
Confirm the project completed at least one successful scan cycle and that report delivery is enabled. If Signals are empty, check sources and Daily scans before blaming the report job.
How do I turn the review into a deliverable?
Write a short narrative from cleared Signals and the weekly report, then attach two evidence links from Activity or Ads. Agencies paste that into the client update; brands send it to stakeholders before the sync.
Accept battlecard suggestions for rivals that moved so sales and account teams share the same talk tracks. If a rival must be fresher than the last daily scan, Refresh once, wait for ready, then finalize the narrative.
Avoid promising real-time monitoring in the write-up — describe what daily scans found and when the landscape was last updated. Close with next actions: who owns each Signal, which battlecards need approval, and whether any rival needs a one-off Refresh before Monday.
How long should the review take?
Agencies multiply the review by client projects; brands usually run one landscape. Keep Daily scans on all week so the review starts from fresh evidence rather than a scramble of Refresh jobs.
If the review balloons, pause Daily scans on secondary rivals, clear stale Signals, and stop Refresh thrash. The goal is a stakeholder-ready narrative from what daily scans found, not a second research project.
