Connect Spiderlook to ChatGPT

ChatGPT uses a custom connector or app that accepts a remote MCP server URL. Spiderlook does not deep-link ChatGPT install because ChatGPT does not provide a connector install link.

How do I start from AI agents or ChatGPT?

In Spiderlook, open Settings → AI agents and choose ChatGPT for the endpoint copy and guidance. In ChatGPT, add a custom connector or app that accepts a remote MCP server URL. Keep the Spiderlook app open so you can finish OAuth when ChatGPT redirects.

If you do not see a custom connector option, confirm your ChatGPT plan supports MCP connectors and that you are in the workspace where connectors are allowed.

What MCP endpoint should I use?

Name the connector Spiderlook and set the server URL to https://api.spiderlook.com/mcp. A trailing slash on that path is accepted. Create the connector — ChatGPT starts OAuth and opens Spiderlook so you can sign in and approve.

Do not paste a bearer token. OAuth is required. If ChatGPT asks for authentication type, choose the OAuth or sign-in path, not a static API key.

How do I approve the project and test?

Choose the project on the consent screen. In ChatGPT, ask for the workspace catalog, then a rival activity or ads question. You should see Spiderlook tools available and answers that match the project you authorized.

If the connector errors, revoke and reconnect, and confirm you authorized the intended project. Wrong-project symptoms look like missing rivals or empty activity even though the app shows data.

What errors are common?

OAuth closes early: retry from Settings → AI agents and allow pop-ups. Tools fail after a teammate leaves: reconnect with a user who still has project access. Endpoint typos: re-copy https://api.spiderlook.com/mcp exactly.

How should teams use ChatGPT with Spiderlook?

Create the custom connector once per ChatGPT workspace that needs Spiderlook, then have each strategist complete OAuth for the project they should see. Do not share a single OAuth session across unrelated client projects.

Ask ChatGPT for workspace catalog first, then rival activity or ads questions. If answers look generic, the connector may be unauthorized or pointed at the wrong project — revoke, recreate with https://api.spiderlook.com/mcp, and approve again.

Pair ChatGPT with the in-app Ads tab and Activity evidence when preparing client updates so creatives stay verifiable.
