Connect your AI

Connect your AI to Spiderlook

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, and other MCP clients so they can use the Spiderlook MCP server on a chosen project — without copying competitor research between tools.

Where do I start in the app?

Open Settings → AI agents for the connector panel. You may also see a dismissible Connect your AI banner or a setup-checklist CTA. OAuth consent runs at /oauth/authorize when a client starts sign-in.

Which client path should I choose?

Claude: start from the official Claude directory listing (recommended), then approve OAuth for a project. ChatGPT: add a custom connector with the Spiderlook MCP endpoint, then complete OAuth. Other clients such as Gemini, Cursor, Notion, PostHog, and any other client that supports MCP: register https://api.spiderlook.com/mcp and finish OAuth.

Do not paste a bearer token. Spiderlook expects OAuth for MCP clients. Prefer Ask Spidey when you only need a quick in-app answer.

How does project scope work?

Each connection authorizes one project landscape. Switch projects in the app before connecting if you need a different client landscape. Revoke unused connectors when someone leaves the team.

If an assistant sees the wrong rivals, reconnect and re-select the project on the consent screen. MCP cannot expose projects the signed-in user cannot open in the Spiderlook app.

What if Connect your AI fails?

Retry from Settings → AI agents, allow the OAuth window, and confirm plan activation. For Claude prefer the directory; for ChatGPT recreate the custom connector with the exact endpoint. See MCP troubleshooting for client cache tips.

How do I verify a connection works?

After OAuth, ask the client to list the workspace or projects it can see. Then ask a grounded question about a named rival’s recent ads or activity. Answers should match what you see in the Spiderlook app for that project.

If the assistant invents rivals or cannot see Activity, revoke the connector, reconnect, and re-select the project on the consent screen. Confirm the same user can open the project in https://app.spiderlook.com.

Prefer the Claude directory for Claude, the custom connector path for ChatGPT, and the shared https://api.spiderlook.com/mcp endpoint for Gemini, Cursor, Notion, PostHog, and any other client that supports MCP.
